About Risco Caído and the Sacred Mountains of Gran Canaria
Risco Caído and the Sacred Mountains of Gran Canaria Cultural Landscape was inscribed by UNESCO in 2019. Among cliffs, ravines and volcanic formations it keeps a large number of cave settlements (dwellings, granaries and cisterns) of a pre-Hispanic culture that evolved in isolation from the arrival of North African Berbers, around the beginning of our era, until the first Spanish settlers in the 15th century; two sacred temples, Risco Caído and Roque Bentayga, are thought to be linked to a cult of the stars and Mother Earth (UNESCO).
